My second attempt at a small painting was abortive; I was still tired and a bit cranky because of the unco-operative weather. My final plein air painting of the day does not exist in photographic form but was the only one that satisfied me in some measure. It is represented by this photograph of the Acadian Cottage within the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. It is a very nice thatched roof reproduction and the subject matter combined with sunshine and rising air temperatures (and two beers at lunch) helped me to paint quickly and impressionistically. Only one other design showed promise, but I willingly put aside the brush at three thirty in the afternoon, and Ruth and I walked the final two paintings back to the Legion Hall for the silent auction.
