The Town Crier

My painting needed "tweaking" but I was decidedly too tired for that. The television weather forecast looked a bit better with the promise for showers rather than rain in the coming day. Saturday saw an early start at seven am. Went out with Ruth for coffee and a quick look at the turnstile which was shrouded in fog. Finished that painting at 8:30 and at breakfast all the guests were entertained by the town crier who appeared in the doorway to announce the day's events.

Turned to the production of four quicky sketches based on photographs. Ruth's mum had completed her painting in a long session the night before and was anxious to get on site. The fog remained dense and the wind was up so I remained "at home" realizing I could not spend too much time moving about the countryside if anything was to be accomplished. In this, I made a good choice. At the waterfront Mary found it far too cold to paint and had to retreat to ARTsPLACE where she also worked from a photo. That weather did not improve measurably until about two in the afternoon when the sun broke through and the wind let up somewhat.
