French Settlers



The French Habitation was established a few miles away in 1604 but this memorial to the expedition head Sieur de Monts, in on the grounds of the old English fort established in the next century after they defeated the French at Quebec. I supected that this part of the local landscape had been thoroughly done to death in the past. And in fact, there were a couple of wet paintings of this memorial in Saturday's exhibition of on site art
