I found the middle valley area moderately depressing. Excepting the agribusiness farmlands, centres like Bridgetown and Kingston seemed definitely on the skids, much of the business having shifted to the huge box stores which lined portions of the highway. Even places like Kentville and Wolfville seemed a bit too restaurant and service industry oriented, so I was happy to see the dykes at Grand Pre, which were new to me. We passed on the Acadian Centre there as admission was $7. Went instead to have a look at this 1811 Presbyterian meeting house which gets few visitors. Met a gentleman there whose ancestors had developed the property next door, but that's another story. From here, we travelled to Windsor and took the Old Chester Road back to Lunenburg. In all a nice holiday in spite of some minor stress.
