Mary on site

In fine art there is no level playing field at festivals such as this. Theoretically, everyone was allowed to hang, and hopefully sell, one pre-painted work at a set price and presumably any number of paintings one was able to create in the out-of-doors at Annapolis Royal. A few painters had quite obviously created plein air works well in advance of this show. The weather simply did not allow the sunny products some of them produced and the quantity from various different sites about town was impossible. I have been at events where paintings turned up from a place where I had worked on site all afternoon, but had never seen hide-nor-hair of the artist/producer.
