The Amistad Crew and the Birchtown Loyalists

Many of these intending settlers had been skilled craftsmen, so their loss cost all the remaining residents a set-back. The Blacks in the region suffered a leadership vacuum for decades. Nevertheless a sense of communitypersisted, and the unending struggle for fair treatment and equality in which they had been engaged continues to inspire their descendants in Nova Scotia.
