Today's Painting

Like my teachers, Fritz Brandtner and Lucy Jarvis, I have always been interested in "social realism" and the plight of the working class. Here's my version, untitled.

This is dangerous subject matter. I am almost certain to have slighted one of these three, but the idea of painting three beautiful young women consuming junk food in the back of a SUV could not be by-passed!

It also gave me the first excuse in years to use Mars Black in order to differentiate the colour starved night from their hair, which is a mix of a tones of real colours. This is a grab shot of the painting just after glazing, so there is more surface reflection than I would have liked, and this image is way too small for real viewing!
