The trip up had been more than two hours due to contrary winds but the flight to Halifax saw trailing winds which allowed us to arrive twenty minutes early. However, ice snow and winds at that airport forced an aborted landing and we circled for more than a half hour in the air with the promise that another attempt would be made as soon as an alternate landing strip could be cleared. It was also announced that we might be spending New Years' Eve In Quebec City. There we cheers when the plane made a slightly bumpy landing. The American Airlines airplane behind us in the landing sequence was not so lucky and was diverted to Moncton for refuelling and another try at Halifax. Conditions on the ground in the parking lot were not good, but as soon as we reached the main highway, the snow turned to rain and the trip back to Lunenburg was comparatively stress free. We did not party that evening but did have fun at George Munroe's annual New Years' Levee, the following afternoon.
