This is a much more home-grown, low-budget version of the Christmas festivities in larger centres. Not entirely a bad thing, but a little heavy on "shopping" as opposed to low-cost entertainments.
Friday December 1st
9:00 to 8:00PM - Great Christmas shopping in Lunenburg with holiday specials
4:00 to 9:00 PM - Chriskindlmarkt open ( traditional German Christmas market)
7:00 PM onwards - Pilgrimage from St. John's Church, live Nativity Scene, the reading of the First Christmas Lighting of the Festival of Trees at the bandstand, Trimming of Memorial Angel Tree followed with cookies, mulled cider and an old fashioned Carol Sing
Saturday, December 2nd
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM - More great shopping in downtown Lunenburg
10:00 AM to 6:00 PM - Chriskindlmarkt open, Hot roasted chestnuts, Sale of Christmas trees, Traditional German food, Gift ideas, Kid's games, Cookie decorating, Live entertainment, Pig roast at lunch time
11:30 AM to 3:30 PM - Live entertainement with Bruce Oakes, an open mike , Lunenburg Kinder Kor, and the band Mid-life Crisis
12:00 Noon - Santa arrives by boat at the waterfront
12:30 PM - Santa arrives at the Chriskindlmarkt
Activities are brought to a close Sunday with a traditional German church service at 4:00 PM in the Zion Lutheran Church.
